Wow. We ate here last night and the snow aged meat was amazing. I've tried the Kobe beef, but this was by far my favorite meal I've had in Japan.

My husband found this spot after the employees of the nearby Autobacs recommended this cafe to him one weekend morning. We just had a leisurely breakfast and it exceeded my expectations! The interior was the perfect marriage of industrial and country chic decor (with cozy blankets in case you got cold), Amos Lee (one of my favorite singers) playing on the speakers, tasty coffee, and delicious food with a surprising dessert at the end made for an excellent Saturday morning date. I was expecting a take out bakery, but found my new favorite brunch spot.

The name of the restaurant is Meat & Bakery TAVERN and the restaurant is portioned into three sections--(1) a bakery where you can watch them baking and purchase delicious baked goods for take away, (2) the bar (which, based on the menu, has a number of whiskey options), and (3) the cafe--which has both interior and exterior seating (it looks like there's a retractable roof for nicer weather). There was room for groups of four, which is often hard to come by at restaurants in Tokyo.

For those dining in, you can opt for the "bread bar," where you self-serve and can stuff your face with all kinds of sweet and savory breads. We were there for lunch and I was surprised at the quality of food for the price--the grass fed beef looked perfectly cooked, and the salads were the best I've had since moving to Tokyo.

I had the Cobb Salad, which wasn't traditional Cobb Salad by American definition, but was so much better. I highly recommend it. It had delicious vegetables, a small piece of smoked fish, roast beef, and a smear of pesto that was better than any pesto I'd ever had. My husband had the Eggs Benedict that was accompanied by french fries that were delicious. We saw other tables' devouring various steak entrees and they looked amazing.

The menu has both Japanese and English, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back and will return with friends. Their website is in English, so you can take a look at their menu and plan accordingly.
