鼎王麻辣鍋

This is my favorite hotpot place in Taiwan. It's just the place we go to there are more places with fancier options but the flavors and quality has become the standard for me the last 5 years of coming here.

You can't go wrong with anything in terms of meat selection all of it the quality is fantastic. If you haven't tried the Chinese donut with if you definitely should. Also all vegetables in Taiwan because of the rains makes all the vegetables really juicy.

A classic place to go to when you're craving some mala hotpot!

I went to dingwang on my most recent trip home to taipei, and the interior seemed much nicer than what I remember (maybe they renovated haha). It has nice touches of traditional chinese decor but modernized. Anyway, onto the food! Everything here now is ordered a la carte, but remember that their soup base will always come with UNLIMITED duck blood and tofu (ugh I love taiwan!!!)!

If you have people that don't like spicy dining with you, I would recommend getting their split hotpot - the other side would be their tangy pickled cabbage pork soup base, also yummy! For the spicy side, you can tell them how intense you want the spice to be, but I would start at mild (which is not very spicy at all. I prefer that so I can eat more lol). They say if you want it to be spicier, they can always add more for you :)!

Sauces are in a communal area, but they keep it quite simple with only two sauces and some scallions - one is a ponzu tangy sauce and the other a fermented tofu paste. They're good separate or combined, it's down to personal preference. There is also a rice cooker next to it where you can get your own rice!

We ordered a bunch of items, but I would recommend any of their beef platters (it comes beautifully displayed on this gigantic plate), lamb platter (just as tender as the beef), intestines, deep fried tofu skin, and their cruellers (youtiao)!

Like so many of Taiwan's great eating spots, this Hotpot chain used to have huge lines. While the excitement has simmered down a tad, they still deliver.

What do they deliver on? That big heavy kettle makes you feel like you are dining as the Emperor back in the Han Dynasty. Take a moment to look at it, touch it, feel the density, perceive the designs, and close your eyes and remember your former life as the emperor/empress.

OMMMMMMMMMMM.

What is unique here is most hotpot restaurants do not offer sour cabbage/pork broth. It is quite tasty, maybe a bit too radical for some, but know that you are a human and thus you have evolved from our base ancestors, thus your taste can evolve too. The mala broth here is one of my favorites. By no means am I a crave spicy person, but the mala here is just enough spicy and so flavorful I found myself slurping this the most.

A great dining experience to be enjoyed with a party of family and friends no doubt. Come and be the royalty that is still within you.

Be prepared to eat a LOT! This is all-you-can-eat Hot Pot. The pot is divided into two sides: one side hot & spicy, the other side sour. There's a huge selection of ingredients, and they just keep coming. Everything from chicken and beef, to shrimp and veggies, regular toro and deep fried tofu skin, and pigs blood...lots of pigs blood.

There is a self-serve area for dipping sauce and rice, so you can help yourself to as much as you want.

This place gets busy during prime time, so come early or be prepared to wait for a table.

Waiting 20 to 30 minutes then sitting 10 minutes if you dont call in. Good combo soup (sour spice )with beef. Great service.

Super awesome hot pot. Unlimited vege, duck blood, tofu and broth refill. Ate till I was really really full. Real hard to get a reservation during dinner time but a lot easier after rush hour. Hope to be back again sometime. :)

The soup is OK, 無老鍋 tastes better in my opinion. especially their original soup. The duck blood is unlimited so be sure to keep eating it - and you must get the spicy in order to get it. The 火鍋 selection is plentiful, and there's so much to choose from. But don't order too much, and if you do - you can togo everything including the soup. Reservation recommended, since the lines can be super long. The staff and service is excellent with their special bows always before leaving your table. Overall for the price you pay, I prefer 無老鍋 - but you can decide for yourself.

Oh and 2 months ago, the duck blood was reported to be 黑心. So be aware!!

Despite there are hundreds of places in taipei for hotpot - and despite the fact this place suffered a scandal for food ingredients (e.g. not everything in the soup based was "made from scratch" - but honestly, it tastes super good!
Excellent service. Good prices. Good portion. Delicious food and overall a really nice dining/hotpot experience. Highly recommend it. This is one of my "must try" eateries when out of town friends are visiting taipei for the first time etc. Solid.

Went there couple months ago. This is always a must go hotpot place whenever I come to Taipei. Reservation is definitely needed to secure a seat! Food are fresh and the spicy soup base are very yummy! They also provide unlimited duck blood when u ask to refill the soup! Services are very professional and responsive. Must try if you are new to Taiwan! Thumbs up to spicy hot pot!
