This little coffee shop is actually connected to the Houtong Museum. They have everything from hot red tea to various juices starting about $2.30 USD to hot coffee or ice coffee for about $3.30 USD to pork fried rice and spaghetti meatball for about $6.00 USD. The cafe itself has a nice cozy modern feel to it. There are these Japanese style windows on the left size that allow you to look out into the village and watch the cats as you sip your cup of joe.
Along one side of the wall they souvenirs pertaining to the Houtong village museum along with cat themed items such as postcards, key chains and fun little trinkets for sale. The prices for the souvenirs were pretty reasonable. Nothing outrageously expensive like a $25 coffee mug or something crazy. It's a nice little cafe to relax and have a little snack before heading on out to do more sightseeing.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Sylvia D.費城, 美國941182018年9月30日
They have both a Chinese and English menu. So if you're an American born Chinese (like me) who can't speak Mandarin or read Chinese, ask for the English menu. They also have pictures of their food and drinks.
I got the honey waffle and an oolong milk tea, hot. The tea came out pretty fast and the waffles followed in about 5-10 minutes, barely enough time for my tea to cool to a drinkable level. I thought it was really cute that the whipped cream was shaped into a cat. Waffles were pretty good and I enjoyed the family-run cafe vibe. A cat even came in but everyone acted like this was normal.
There's a few small tables and two bigger ones. If you're a solo traveler- like me- you may share tables if more people come in. That being said, I do understand Cantonese. The couple next to me were complaining about the small menu and how it's mostly sweets. Please know/ be reminded that this is a cafe. The menu outside lists some coffee and foods, but the menu inside also lists teas. The menu is majority coffee and teas with some sweet pastries and waffles. As of Sep. 2018, the only savory foods they have are tapas (I think it was bread, garlic, tomato sauce, and cheese), fried platter (platter of fried food), and homemade curry with rice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark L.紐約, 美國5882017年5月14日
This place is great. The owner is friendly and loquacious, coffee worth the climb up the stairs, and location among the best in the Cat Village.
